PARAVUR: Two fishermen who went out to sea for fishing in a fibre catamaran died after it overturned and the fishermen got caught in the waves.
The dead have been identified as Paravur Kongal Kochuthodiyil Zakariah (48) and Paravur Kongal Dharmakkudiyil Izudhin (52).
They had gone for fishing at around 5 in the morning on Wednesday and as they reached a nautical mile off the coast, their catamaran got caught in strong waves and capsized.
Soon after coming to know about the mishap, fishermen who were in nearby areas and coastal police rushed to the spot and started the search for the two missing fishermen.
After two hours, fishermen saw Zakariah’s body, which had been washed ashore.
In the search conducted by the coastal police in Inspector boat Yodha, Izudhin’s body was found by 9 in the morning.
Izudhin is survived by wife Nabeezath and daughters Ibinamol and Anna whereas Zakariah is survived by Sajeena and daughters Sulaiman and Misariya.
