KASARGOD: In the case in which Kumbala Naikkappu oil mill employee Hareesh (38) was hacked to death, Kasargod JFCM court has remanded main accused Sreekumar (27) to 14 days.
Sreekumar had been arrested by Kumbala Inspector P Pramod and team.
During the collection of evidence in the presence of the main accused, the police could recover a blood-stained shirt and a knife, believed to have been used for the murder, from a canal near Naikappu.
The police said that the accused had reached the canal in a car after the murder and threw the knife into it. The shirt and knife have been sent for forensic test.
Meanwhile, the police are trying to find out the fourth suspect in the case. According to the witnesses’ account, four persons had got out of the car. The police say that two accused, Roshan (20) and Mani(19), who committed suicide fearing police arrest had roles in the murder.
The police persistently say they are the second and third accused in the case. Sreekumar, who got arrested, has told the police that the two were with him during the murder.
The investigation team also has got the information that a few others were also of the part of the conspiracy to kill Hareesh.
Police on Tuesday arrested Sreekumar, the main accused behind the murder of Hareesh (38) who was hacked to death at Kumbala in Kasargod. Roshan (20) and Mani(19) had committed suicide on Tuesday night. They were Sreekumar's close friends.
Hareesh was attacked by the gang on Monday night. Though the youth was rushed to a private hospital in Kasargod by some passers-by, his life could not be saved.
He sustained injuries on his head and neck. Initial reports said the injuries on his head were the cause of his death. Police said personal enmity is behind the incident.
