THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The situation in Thiruvananthapuram district remains critical as 429 persons test positive for COVID-19 cases on Thursday. Among these, 394 persons contracted the disease through contact. Meanwhile, authorities confirmed that 8 recent deaths in the district were caused by COVID-19.

The deceased have been identified as Vettoor native Mahad (48), Vellumannadi native Basheer (44) who died on August 14, Medical College native Rajan (84), Kowdiar native Krishnankutty Nair (73), Vallakadavu native Lawrence (69), Neyyatinkara native Mohanakumaran Nair (58) who died on August 16, Puthukurichi native Mershli (75) and Poojapura native Manikandan (72). The capital district has reported nearly 11,000 positive cases so far.
