onam-kits

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Food and Civil Supplies Minister P Thilothaman has said Onam kits that contain less quantity of commodities will be repacked after including left out items in them and redistributed.

Further steps will be taken against the anomaly after getting Vigilance report.

The Vigilance’s finding was that most of the kits contained only commodities worth Rs 400 to 490 and the authorities had committed lapses in ensuring the quality and quantity of commodities in the kits.

The lapsed in ensuring the quality and quantity came to light in the lightning raids conducted by the Vigilance on Thursday under the name 'Operation Clean Kit'.

The raids were conducted in packing stores, Maveli stores and Ration shops and 58 packing centres.

In the coming days, more inspection will be there.

The distribution of the Onam kit, which consists of 11 items of groceries, had started on August 13. The distribution is through Supplyco centres and ration shops.
