THRISSUR: A major gold haul took place at Gold Heart Jewellery at Kaipamangalam Moonnupeedika in Thrissur on Friday. 3.75 kg gold ornaments worth Rs 1:75 were stolen. The robbers entered the shop by drilling a wall. The robbery was first spotted by the jewellery owner Salim when he came early morning at around 10 to open the shop.

The gold had been kept in the locker of the jewellery. Apart from Salim, there is only one staff in the shop. Both had returned yesterday after closing the shop at 9 pm. The robbers have scattered chili powder all over the shop to destroy the evidence.

The jewellery is located adjacent to the NH road and on the right side of the shop is a bushy area. The robbers had approached the shop through this side. The whole they drilled is about 2 feet big.

Iringalakkuda DySP and his team had reached the spot and started the investigation. Dog squad and finger print experts have also reached the site.
