THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government is again preparing to take legal action against the decision to hand over the management of Thiruvananthapuram airport to Adani. The state government moved the high court urging to impose a stay on the present steps. The government has submitted a new supplementary plea on the plea filed earlier against the privatisation. The action is based on AG's legal advice.
Although the centre decided to hand over the management of the Thiruvananthapuram airport to Adani, it is clear that the way forward for Adani and the government will not be easy in the ongoing battle. The letter of support or state support agreement is inevitable for the management of the airport and further development. The government strongly opposing privatization will use the ‘support letter’ weapon against Adani.
Legal experts say the tender is unlikely to be cancelled even if the government continues its legal battle. The high court verdict was against the government earlier in a case related to it. If the Supreme Court does not stay the tender proceedings there won’t be any legal issues in taking over the airport.
