KOCHI: The chemical examination result of a toddler who allegedly died after swallowing a coin shows a different picture to what was anticipated at first. As per the result, the death of the toddler named Prithviraj was not due to swallowing the coin but due to shortness of breath. The report states that there was nothing unnatural in the internal organ tests.
The chemical examination also points out the history of the child when he encountered shortness of breath.
Prithviraj died on August 1. He had swallowed the coin 18 hours prior to this. On the day of the incident, he was taken to Aluva government hospital but had to leave after being told that no pediatricians were on duty. He was then taken to Ernakulam general hospital but was told the same thing and had to leave. Following this, he was taken to Alappuzha Medical College.
The reports on the day claimed that the child didn't receive any medical attention and was asked to eat fruits and rice in order to expel the coin. Prithviraj's relatives also alleged that the child died due to medical negligence which sparked a controversy.
