THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: According to an official reply received through RTI application, the State government had entrusted a company owned by a relative of Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani with the job to secure the lease of the international airport here.
The state government paid out a very high consultancy fee to Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, a law firm owned by Cyril Shroff, father-in-law of Gautam Adani’s son Karan. Gautam Adani’s daughter-in-law Paridhi is also a partner of the company.
The RTI reply has revealed that the government paid Rs 55,39,522 as ‘professional fee for bidding’ to the law firm Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas.
The revelation has come out at a time when the government is going to fight tooth and nail the handing over of the airport to Adani on lease for 50 years.
There is a wide speculation that this consultancy deal had resulted in Kerala, losing the bid for the airport.
