THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state registered 1908 cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, health minister KK Shailaja informed.

Among the new cases, 1718 persons developed the disease through contact including 160 cases without an identified source of infection. 35 persons came from abroad, while 105 persons returned from other states. 50 health workers also tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.

1110 patients tested negative for the virus on Sunday.

The state reported 5 COVID deaths on Saturday.

As many as 1,82,525 people are under observation including 16,529 in hospitals. 2066 persons were admitted to hospitals in the past 24 hours.

In the past 24 hours, 36,353 samples were tested. As of today, a total of 14,22,558 samples were tested in the state.

The government declared 23 new hotspots in the state while removing 17 places from the list. Currently, there are 622 hotspots in Kerala.
