THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan kept silent on the life mission scam throughout the course in his three hour 45 minutes speech while responding to the allegations raised by the opposition in no-confidence motion. Pinarayi is running away from corruption allegations. Ganesh Kumar is speaking against corruption and he is now with the Marxists, who hailed the decision of convicting his father and party chairman R Balakrishna Pillai in a corruption case. The LDF MLAs had yesterday heaped praises on the chief minister. The speaker has been unfair throughout the session, blamed Chennithala.
“I had asked the speaker not to interrupt in between the chief minister’s speech and mine and the speaker agreed to it. I only took an extra time of 20 minutes and was interrupted thrice in between”, said Chennithala. Law Minister A K Balan asked not to extend the speech, adhering to COVID protocol but he maintained silence when the chief minister spoke.
The opposition criticized Pinarayi Vijayan for delivering the longest speech in the history of Kerala Assembly by taking three hours and 45 minutes of the five hour no-confidence motion. The speaker was too meek to stop him and he said there was nothing unnatural in the chief minister’s speech. The opposition alleged that Pinarayi Vijayan was merely reading out the matter someone has written and it was not at all an interesting piece to listen to.
The speaker said that former chief minister Oommen Chandy took five and half hours to give reply for the then no-confidence motion, but the opposition made it clear that he took only one and half hours. Total time they took was two hours. The speaker tried to suppress the opposition. The post of a speaker has a value and sanctity but the speaker has spoilt it and he has been partial too, criticized Chennithala.
