IDUKKI: The search for those missing in the massive landslide that struck Pettimudi has been temporarily stopped. The district administration informed that search will continue with the cooperation of the locals after water in Kanniyar subsides. There are five more missing in the accident.
Experts said the landslide could have been caused by a cloudburst. In the first week of this month, Pettimudi received 2000 millimetres of rain. It has been estimated that the landslide occurred when water from a nearby hill gushed the place. A cloudburst is a powerful hurricane that strikes an area in a very short time.
