Minister G Sudhakaran has come up with explanation on how fire broke out at Secretariat on his Facebook post. “We have got the report of Public Works department (Constructions) Chief Engineer regarding the fire that broke out at the General Administration (Political) Department in the State secretariat on Tuesday.
Soon after getting the information Publics Works Electrical Engineer visited the place and took initial steps. At this time I was in my office at the Secretariat. As soon as I came to know about it, I visited the place with a few officials and asked Public Works chief Engineer to submit a report on the incident.
According to the report submitted at 11 am on Wednesday, the fire occurred in the office room that was kept closed on August 24 and 25 after fumigation as per Covid protocol. The fire broke out after the wall fan got heated and the melted plastic fell on the nearby curtain and shelf. I have handed over this report to the chief minister..
A committee which includes the chief electrical engineer has been formed to conduct a detailed inquiry into the incident. When the government and the Public Works department is going ahead with procedures in a transparent manner let us hope that the Opposition will step back from unleashing arson in the State after misleading the people. In this times of epidemic, turning your back on the truth is treason against the people,” he wrote on his FB page.
