THALASSERY: The beams of an under-construction bridge on Muzhappilangad-Mahe road collapsed on Wednesday by 2.30 pm.
The collapsed beams were part of the bridge which is being constructed across Dharmadam river near Nettur here. Three beams of the bridge collapsed.
Nobody were injured or kille in the incident as there was no one nearby at the time of the collapse, the loss of which has been estimated to be about Rs 3 crore.
All four beams that collapsed fell into the river. The exact location is Balath near Nittoor. The bypass road project in its final phase. Four bridges are being built across the river. The piling and works on pillar is already complete. What is going on now is the work on the slabs. The nine-foot slab is complete. This is for heavy vehicles and for light vehicles, there is three- foot slab.
