THIRUVNANTAHPURAM: Governor Arif Mohammad Khan is intervening in the secretariat fire that broke out during the evening hours of Tuesday. The governor handed over opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala’s complaint to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The Governor directed for appropriate inquiry into the complaint. Chennithala sought a comprehensive probe to the governor. He also raised the need that the chief secretary should be summoned. On the very night of the blaze the opposition leader along with the MLAs met the governor to express their protest against the incident.
Meanwhile, the additional secretary directed to make all paper files in the secretariat to e-files. The government had so far argued that everything were e-files. A direction already prevails that no paper files should be kept in the secretariat, still the files on VIP consideration, diplomatic permission and room bookings in guest house exist in the paper form. The official explanation was that no crucial documents and information were destroyed in the fire.
