In the wake of the Onam festival, the government has given nod to start restart public transport. Public transport services have been allowed to operate between 6 am and 10 pm and arrangement will continue till September 2. However, transport services should strictly follow Covid-19 protocol norms. Transport Minister A K Saseendran has clarified that permission has been given to operate service to all districts. Presently, one can travel in the public vehicle only to a neighbouring district.

Yesterday, the government issued an order prohibiting public celebrations in connection with Onam. The circular issued by Revenue principal secretary also restricts floral decorations (pookalam) in public places.

Market and other business establishments are allowed to function under strict Covid regulations. Meanwhile, the government has made it clear that there will be no easing of restrictions in containment zones.
