blame-game

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: When just eight months are left for Assembly election and merely two months for local body elections, the Opposition parties are seeking opportunities to mercilessly strike at the government.

The Opposition has started attempts to embarrass LDF government in the manner the latter did to them in the name of Bar bribery/Solar controversy. The Opposition this time will be using gold smuggling case and Life Mission issues as their main political weapons. The fire incident at the Secretariat will also be a shot in the arm for the Opposition.

Though the fire at the Secretariat appears to be nothing mysterious, the current political environment will turn that incident as another weapon against the government.

Additional Secretary P Honey’s telephonic statement to the channels that the “files were set ablaze” is also seen as another head-ache for the government though he had rectified his statement, saying that it was a slip of the tongue.

The reason for flaring up of the fire incident that occurred in Secretariat is the fact that files demanded from the Protocol officer by investigation agencies are kept in the office room that caught fire.

Meanwhile, in a counter attack, CPM and the government are trying to blame Surendran for the “conspiracy” behind the fire, citing that he was the first person to reach the spot after the fire broke out.
