THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As the controversy regarding his alleged links with gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh intensifies, Anil Nambiar has announced that he is stepping down as the Coordinating Editor of Janam TV. He made the announcement through his Facebook page. Earlier, Swapna had told Customs officials that she had known Anil for a long time. According to Swapna, Anil had sought her help to secure the consulate's support for BJP.

Meanwhile, Anil said that the Customs department summoned him to get clarity regarding some of the statements made by Swapna Suresh. He also added that he has fully cooperated with the investigation.
