THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Devotees and visitors will be able to see the precious treasure at Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple through a 3D Museum that's being set up in the capital city. One can see 3D images of rare jewels and stones at the temple except for the ones in 'B' vault. Making the treasure available for public viewing can cause security problems, hence this alternative. The museum will be adjacent to the temple.
By now, over 45000 3D images of the treasure was captured. There are three sets of these pictures, one kept in the Supreme Court, another at the Indian Institute of Science, and the third at the temple. The pictures were taken under the guidance of Keltron. 3D images will provide a life-like experience. The final decision regarding the museum will be taken after the new administration takes charge. It is learnt that the royal family has no objection to this idea. The museum is expected to draw visitors from around the globe.
The treasure is worth over Rs 1.5 lakh crores. There are many historic jewels and treasures in the temple which include an 18 feet long chain named 'Sharappolimala', a gold coin with Jesus Christ's and St. George's picture on either side dating back to 1340 and many others.
