THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Owing to the secretariat fire that led to many political controversies, it is recommended to have an additional back up for all the files including e-files of the public administration department. The recommendation was put forth by the committee led by Dr Kaushik, the commissioner of the Disaster Management authority after visiting the spot. The committee will submit the report on the blaze next week. The report will mainly highlight this direction.
In February an order was released to digitalise all paper files and orders, but many departments failed to follow this instruction. As the order is not followed yet, the public administration department gave strict directions to the records section to have speedy action to digitise the records on Friday. The digitalisation of the files of administration departments and information public relations department are done in the public administration records section. The department of law and finance digitalise their files in the respective departments. If the files belonging to these offices are turned to paper files then those files are further recommended to get converted to e-flies. But still these orders just remain on paper. The note prepared by ministers after examining the print of e -files will be added to the e-file later.
The committee also recommended to place security cameras in the area where the fire broke out and to shift the files that are partially burnt to the strong room. So, the investigation agency can go through the partially burnt files in future if required.
