THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday said that the government cannot take action solely on the basis of media reports. When quizzed about CM's media advisor John Brittas revealing the news of corruption in connection with the Life Mission project, the chief minister said that an action can be taken only on the basis of information obtained through government means.

According to Pinarayi Vijayan, the media advisor is not an office staff and his help is sought only when a piece of advice is required. "The media advisor neither goes through the government files nor is he aware of the government secrets. John Brittas shared the information that he obtained. The government does not have any such information. Just because Brittas happens to be the media advisor, does not mean that he cannot share information regarding the deals between Red Crescent and other contractors," Vijayan said. The CM also added that the government is not responsible for the actions of Red Crescent.
