THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: "I don't need any protection. Sree Narayan Gurudevan is my savior. He'll protect me"
When a dispute regarding authority broke out in Sivagiri in 1995, the police had to intervene under the leadership of the then-rural SP N Shankar Reddy. Years later, he visited the 'Mahasamadhi' all alone. He is retiring as a DGP on Monday. 34 years of his service was in Kerala and even while retiring, his mind is full of Gurudeva memories.
"Police had to provide protection to even the judges who delivered the verdict in the Sivagiri case. Days after the police action, I wanted to come and pray at 'Mahasamadhi'. Even my colleagues tried to stop me, but I didn't change my decision. I went alone and prayed with tears. I experienced that aura. It's a land with immense power. There is Guru's energy even in the air there", Shankar said.
"After this Judicial Commission report on Sivagiri incident was issued in which I was praised. I went to Sivagiri many times again. I was invited to the marriages of daughters of the Swamys there. Even though I am leaving I'll visit Sivagiri to offer my prayers when I come to Kerala", he added.
Shankar is going to Ananthapur near Puttaparthi where Shankar's daughter Sindhoor and family is staying. "I'll stay with my wife there or some days. Reddy is a native of Telangana's Mehaboob.
