THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CBI has taken over the Chittar Mathai custodial death case. The CBI submitted the charge sheet at the CJM Court in the capital city. The CBI has decided to re-post-mortem the body again. The inquest proceedings will be done in the presence of the magistrate. Three forensic doctors will be there for the post-mortem. The CBI has forwarded a letter on it to the CBI.
The officials of the forest department took Mathai into custody on July 28 for damaging the CCTV camera installed by them. His body was found in the well on that day at 6 pm. Though the body was handed over to his relatives on July 31 after post-mortem, they decided not to bury the body till the accused are arrested.
The high court decided to leave the probe to the CBI on the plea of his wife. The division bench directed the CBI to take over the probe and take further action. The government has also taken a favourable approach in leaving the case to the CBI.
