MALAYINKEEZHU: A last grade government employee allegedly strangled his seven-year-old son to death before committing suicide at his rented house. The deceased have been identified as Maranalloor native Salim (42) and his son Ashlin (7). Ashlin was born to Salim's first wife who passed away 4 years ago.
Salim's body was found hanging in the bedroom while his son's body was lying on the bed. It was Salim's sister who discovered the bodies. It is learnt that Salim committed suicide due to family problems. The bodies have been shifted to the mortuary of the Medical College Hospital for post mortem.
After the death of his first wife, Salim got married to a woman who used to work in his office. Recently, she had gone to her native place in Adoor and in the meantime, Salim became close to a woman from Nilambur whom he met through social media. Following this, the woman came to Thiruvananthapuram to live with him and this led to a quarrel between Salim and his wife. Sources said that Salim was suffering from severe mental stress after the quarrel.
