MALAPPURAM: Kerala reported one more COVID-19 death. The dead has been identified as Nisha (24), native of Attapadi. She succumbed to the virus while undergoing treatment at Manjeri Medical College. The state had confirmed four COVID deaths on Tuesday.
The deaths of N V Francis (76), native of Rajagiri in Ernakulam, who died on August 22, Jeevakyan (64), of Arayi in Kasaragod who died on August 23, Rameshan (45), native of Ravaneshwaram in Kasaragod, who died on August 24 and Somana (67) of Eluvila in Thiruvananthapuram who died on August 26 were confirmed of the virus. The state’s COVID toll has reached 298.
As many as 1140 cases were confirmed in the state on Tuesday. 1059 persons contracted the virus through local transmission. The sources of infection in 158 newly reported cases are unknown. The persons who tested positive on Tuesday include 14 people who came from abroad and 36 from other states.
