THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police has started the search operation for the Congress panchayat member in connection with Venjaramoodu twin murder case. Gopan, a ward member of Manickal panchayat is under police lens. Police say he is absconding and doubts that he have links with the murderer. Police had contacted Gopan after the murder has happened and he went undercover after the police call. Police had searched Gopan’s home yesterday, but it is still unknown whether they have received any evidence on his link in the murder case.

Meanwhile, reports say that the accused in the case will be remanded today. On Tuesday, four persons were remanded and police also held a woman named Preeja, who helped the prime accused—Sajeev and Sanal to abscond. Two more persons namely, Unni, an INTUC local leader and Ansar, who have a direct role in the murder case are still on the run. Police have also started probing the conspiracy behind the case.

The twin-murder happened on the night before Thiruvonam. Youth Congress activists killed two DYFI workers— Mithilaj (32) and Haq Muhammed (28) for political vengeance.
