THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress ward member, Gopan, has denied the allegations levelled against him on the twin murder case of DYFI activists in Venjaramoodu. “Being a ward member, different people contact me on a daily basis for varying purposes, Sanal and Unni might also have contacted me on similar lines. I have no role in the murder case,” he said.

“Nobody has called me from the DYSP office to record my testimony. Police have only asked me to see them as they needed to clarify something,” Gopan told a media house. He also said that he was not absconding and he had turned off his phone as he was at the hospital to attend his ailing mother.

There were reports that Gopan, a ward member of Manickkal Panchayat was absconding and the police are searching for him. Police suspect that he has links with the murderers. Yesterday, the police had searched his home but it is still unknown whether the police team has found any evidence indicating his links with the killers.
