THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state registered 1547 cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, health minister KK Shailaja informed. Among the new cases, 1419 persons developed the disease through contact including 156 cases without an identified source of infection. 21 had returned from abroad and 65 from other states. 36 health workers tested positive for the virus in the past 24 hours.
2129 patients tested negative for the virus on Wednesday.

The state recorded seven COVID deaths on Wednesday.
There are 1,93,736 persons under observation over various districts in the state including 18,354 at hospitals.
At least 23,850 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. As of today, 17,24,658 samples were tested in the state.
The government declared 13 new hotspots on Wednesday while removing 17 regions from the list. Currently, there are 577 hotspots in the state.
