NEWDELHI: The suicide rates and accident fatalities in India had surged over the year. The records say that accident deaths in men was on the higher side compared to women. The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) has revealed alarming data on the suicide rates and accident fatalities.
According to the latest NCRB data India reported 4.2 lakhs accident deaths in 2019 and 3.4 lakhs of the total were men. The rate of women died in accidents is below 81,000. 37 trans genders also lost their lives in various accidents. So, 81 per cent of the dead constituted men.
When compared to 50 years back the death rates had a huge leap. In 1961, 1.3 lakh accident deaths were reported and 82,000 of the dead were men which formed 63 per cent. The death rate of women was below 49,000.
There was a drastic change in the suicide rates too. Out of 1.4 lakhs suicides reported in 2019, 98,000 were men, which again rose the percentage chart of unnatural death among men to 70 per cent. Almost 41,500 women committed suicide.
