THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Customs has started a probe on links between gold smuggling and Bengaluru drugs case. Customs started the probe after it received information on relations between Anoop Muhammed, main accused in drug trafficking case and K T Ramees, the prime accused in gold smuggling case.

Anoop has called many big shots in Kerala, the day when Swapna and Sandeep were held by NIA. K T Ramees will be questioned in order to find more clarity in this information. Customs superintendent has submitted a plea before the court seeking to question Ramees. On Monday, the court will hear this plea.

Muhammed Anoop was a regular participant of the night parties held in Kochi. He has links with many newcomers in the Malayalam film industry. Anoop stayed at his home in Kochi for three months following a surgery at a private hospital in Kochi.

Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) is of the view that Anoop cannot deal with the drug deal alone and someone should be behind him. The probe team thinks that more information will come to light if his relations in Kochi is enquired. Customs department is also probing under the angle whether accused in gold smuggling case has invested in Anoop’s drug trade.
