THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state registered 2479 cases of COVID-19 on Friday, health minister KK Shailaja said. Among the new cases, 2255 persons developed the disease through contact including 149 cases without an identified source of infection. 34 health workers tested positive for the virus in the past 24 hours.

2716 coronavirus patients tested negative for the virus on Friday.

The state reported 11 COVID deaths on Friday.

At least 1,97,937 people are under observation in the state where 17,194 are in isolation wards of various hospitals.

The state has tested 36,310 samples in the last 24 hours. At least 16 regions have been categorised as hot spots while 28 have been removed, taking the total number in the state to 557.
