THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: While several teenagers were spending time playing mobile games like PUBG, a class 8 student from Thiruvananthapuram has come up with a mobile application that may prove to be an alternative for Whatsapp. The 'Call Chat' messenger app has been developed by Dheeraj, a class 8 student of Chinmaya Vidyalaya school, Naruvamoodu.
Though many had initially raised doubts regarding the authenticity of the app, Dheeraj went on to clear their doubts and even managed to secure a patent for the app from Amazon Appstore
The 'Call Chat' app is used by people in various countries including China, USA and France. The app is also used by Dheeraj's schoolmates and teachers.

Dheeraj's father had bought a computer for facilitating his online studies. The 12-year-old used his father's mobile hotspot to surf the internet so as to learn about app development. Dheeraj's father Sivakumar runs a margin free supermarket and his mother is a housewife. He also has a younger sister named Neeraja.
