PATHANAMTHITTA: The Kerala State Commission for Women has intervened in the case of an ambulance driver sexually abusing a Covid patient. The commission has taken a suo motu case. Commission chairperson M C Josephine has asked Pathanamthitta SP to submit an emergency report.
All possible support will be given to the victim in this incident which has shocked the human conscience. This incident reminds us that women with COVID need special care. In addition to his arrest and action taken, Josephine said she will direct to cancel his driving license.
Health Minister K K Shailaja said that strong action will be taken in the incident and necessary steps will be taken to prevent such incidents. The minister said that violence against women should not have happened and how the lapse occurred will be investigated. She said she has asked the agency to fire the driver immediately.
The police have arrested the ambulance driver Noufal in connection with the incident. The incident happened while they were going from Adoor to the COVID care centre in Kozencheery.
