KASARAGOD: 14 cheating cases were registered against Manjeswaram MLA MC Kamarudheen and others as they are accused of not returning the money they owed. 12 cases were registered at Chandera police station, one at Kasaragod town police station and another one at Hosdurg court.

The cases were registered on a petition by five persons who made an investment. The cases are being probed by Chandera inspector P Narayanan. The case will be transferred to the Crime Branch only after collecting more evidence, The statements of the petitioners were recorded. The jewellery manager was also questioned. In the investigation, it was found that four companies were registered under the name of MLA.

Though registered, the company doesn't have legal rights to receive investments, inspector P Narayanan said. After receiving investment, only an agreement on a stamp paper was given as a guarantee. The Hosdurg court registered a case against the MLA and IUML leader TK Pookoya on a petition lodged by Kallar natives Subair and his brothers. They both invested Rs 70 lakhs.

Meanwhile MLA MC Kamarudheen said the money would be returned to investors within four months.
