PATHANAMTHITTA: The investigating team will submit the charge sheet in a month in the sexual abuse case of a COVID patient in an ambulance. A special ten-member team has been appointed to investigate the case. As Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Prevention of Torture Act has been imposed in the case, Adoor DySP is in charge of the investigation.
The investigating team could not record the girl’s detailed statement as the victim is mentally broken. Her statement will be recorded after counselling. She was shifted to Kottayam Medical College yesterday for a thorough counselling. The police is likely to get the custody of the accused who has been remanded. If obtained in custody, he will be taken to the spot to collect evidence.
The health department had directed the ambulance driver Noufal to drop the victim at the treatment centre in Pandalam and the 42-year-old woman at Kozhencherry General Hospital. Without dropping the victim at Pandalam near Adoor, he first dropped the 42-year-old woman at Kozhencherry Hospital which was 18 kilometres away, returned and then dropped her at Pandalam.
In between this, he stopped the vehicle at an isolated place acquired for Aranmula Airport and then abused her. After that, he dropped her at the treatment centre and fled with the ambulance. He was arrested from Adoor following a complaint lodged.
