Anil bose, the spokesperson of KPCC and national coordinator of Unorganised Labourers’ Congress has said that the by-elections to Kuttanad and Chavara seats, declared by the poll panel should not be conducted. He wrote on Facebook that even if MLAs are elected they can’t do anything other than taking oath as time is very limited. Therefore the party leaderships should understand the people’s plight and should ignore the by-polls. His statement comes when UDF leadership is actively holding meets at different levels to select the candidates.
Anil bose has already made his stand clear to the top Congress leaders. State governments should take the initiative to postpone the polls. He also wrote on Facebook that congress workers want the party leadership to take back Kuttanad seat from Joseph faction and field a party candidate. Meanwhile, the top Congress leadership is confused over how to justify Anil’s statement.
His Facebook post is as follows:
The central poll panel has declared elections to 64 constituencies
In Kerala, polls are going to be held in 2 constituencies
Kuttanad & Chavara
As these by-polls in Kerala are done for a very limited time, it makes it different from elsewhere in the country.
Therefore it is unacceptable to apolitical and political persons alike.
Political parties also can’t stand indifferent to polls as theory are done legally.
However, govt has called for an all-party meet the discuss this issue.
Whoever is elected as MLA, they can’t do anything other than taking oath as time is very limited. Therefore as a political worker, my humble opinion is that the political party leaderships in Kerala should understand the people’s plight and should ignore the by-polls.
As I am a responsible worker of Congress party, I have made my stand clear before KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran, former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, AICC secretary K C Venugopal and CWC member AK Antony.
I am also submitting the same request before the honourable chief minister of Kerala and state government.
All political parties should consider public opinion.
NB:
If polls become inevitable then political parties should also become a part of it.
The present political atmosphere is conducive for UDF.
Shibu Baby John is prepared to fight from Chavara.
If Kerala Congress in contesting in Kuttanad, then they will choose a candidate.
UDF leadership will accept their claim, that is the convention.
I have already informed top leadership about the general feeling among Congress workers to bring Kuttanad seat to the party fold.
Party and UDF leadership will certainly take a mature leadership. The congress workers are bound to accept the party decision, whatever it could be.
Those who hold important positions in the party should not spread misunderstood information.
It is requested not to take part in activities that promote internal factionalism.
