ALAPPUZHA: UDF has decided to field Jacob Abraham as its candidate in Kuttanad. PJ Joseph, after convening his party’s meet, has said that he won’t reconsider the stand taken on Jose K Mani. Meanwhile, Jacob Abraham has said that UDF is contesting the election with confidence and the present political atmosphere is conducive for UDF. Even though a virtual meet was planned but leaders including PJ Joseph has come to the cantonment house to attend the meet. Jacob Abraham has also contested against deceased Thomas Chandy in 2016.

PJ Joseph has approached the court against the poll panel’s decision to allocate the two-leaves symbol to Jose faction. P J Joseph in his plea has said that the poll panel’s decision to allocate the symbol to Jose faction is unlawful.

The poll panel has taken that step without considering the facts. In the 450-member state panel, the poll panel has only taken the views of only 305 persons. Joseph also says in his plea that Jose K Mani was forbidden by the magistrate court from taking charge as chairman of Kerala Congress(M). The high court is likely to take up Joseph’s plea on Wednesday.
