PALAKKAD: A male elephant with no tusks (mozha) found with injuries in its mouth died here last night without responding to treatment. The elephant which had gone to Tamil Nadu after given medicines, reached Attappadi forest area four days ago. The elephant which survived with injuries for more than three weeks, was in a weak condition. The elephant was found lying at Marappalam near Sholayar. A veterinary doctor and officials of the forest department have left for the spot. The body will be cremated after the post-mortem.
