KOZHIKODE: Alan and Thaha received bail in Pantheerankavu UAPA case. Both of them were given bail with severe restrictions. The conditions are submitting passport, registering their attendance to the nearest police station on the first Saturday of every month, no links with CPI(Maoists), presence of a parent for bail and, apart from these conditions, the court has also imposed a bond of Rs one lakh to get the bail for both of them.

Meanwhile, Thaha’s mother Jameela has said that even though the bail was delayed, she’s happy that her son got justice and she also said that her son is not linked to any Maoist organisation. Thaha’s brother said that he fully agrees to the conditions of the court. NIA court in Kochi gave the verdict on the pleas filed by Alan Shuhaib and Thaha Faisal who are facing remand under the case. They said in the plea that for the last 10 months they have been behind the bars and police have not found out any evidence for their links with Maoists in the meantime.

However, NIA opined that they are evidence which shows Maoists links of the accused. Police arrested Alan and Thaha on November 1st, 2019 for possessing literature of banned organisation, CPI(Maoists) and afterwards NIA took up the case. Chargesheet of the case was filed in April.
