KOCHI: The NIA has accused five more in the gold smuggling case. All of them acted as intermediaries for the gold smuggling. They have been identified as Mustafa, Abdul Aziz, Nandu Coimbatore, Raju and Muhammed Shameer.
Meantime, the Enforcement Directorate said the accused in the Bengaluru drug case have connections in the gold smuggling. This is mentioned in the report submitted in the court by the Enforcement Directorate. The report has sought extension in the remand period of Swapna Suresh. The report pointed that in the investigation, it was suspected that the accused in the Bengaluru drug case registered by the Narcotics Control Bureau had helped the accused in the gold smuggling case.
A VIP is being questioned in connection with the case. The directorate has stated in the report that in addition more than two dozen people involved in the gold smuggling case should be questioned. Although the report does not mention the name of the VIP, the enforcement is grilling Bineesh Kodiyeri in Kochi. He is being questioned in connection with the benami hawala dealing in the gold smuggling case.
