THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has expressed regrets for his controversial statement. He explained that he never intended to hurt women even by slightest means and his words have been scraped out from the context and distorted. The opposition leader said that not even a single remark against women was made in his public life.
Chennithala realised that his statement was twisted and he had never meant to insult women. He also said that he had been working all the while with the political awareness that such a statement should not be raised from his part. His statement “Is it written anywhere that only DYFI workers can sexually assault?” triggered controversy.
The opposition leader has revoked the controversial statement and expressed his regrets over the same. The failure of the government had paved way to two sexual abuses reported at Aranmulla and Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala. The health department should take up the responsibility of those rape cases, criticized Chennithala.
He also added that it was the onus of the government to take up the accountability of the two sexual abuse cases which have left an eternal insult to Kerala before the entire world. Along with ensuring deserving punishment for the convicts, the government should initiate steps to end its flaws, corruption and nepotism in fighting COVID. The Kerala society have not witnessed ever in its history the kind of sexual abuse cases reported at various levels of government. The incident of sexually abusing a COVID patient is a real shame on Kerala .
