salary

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government is likely to start repaying the salary amount cut from the employees due to the COVID-19 situation in installments.

The government employees suffered a pay cut of six days' salary from April to August which is equal to the salary of one month in total. Service organizations have started asking for repayment of this pay cut. As elections are near, this demand could be met. The amount could also be returned as PF money. A clear decision on this is yet to take, the finance minister's office said. The common stand is to pacify the employees in light of the upcoming elections.

A commission is currently collecting evidence on salary revision of government employees and teachers. This report will likely be submitted in December. In that case, salary revision could be announced in the current fiscal year. The government is yet to give dearness allowance and leave surrender and there is a demand for these as well.
