THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Even though the all-party meet on Friday has decided to request poll panel for postponing the by-polls, the final decision on that issue will be taken by the election commission. Political parties will move forward with campaign activities until an official decision is out. Former minister and UDF candidate in Chavara, Shibu Baby John has said that he is facing the polls with full confidence. UDF will win with a good majority in Kuttanad seat also. People are living under the fear of Covid-19 and the winners will only get 4 months in the assembly, therefore there is no use with the by-polls, Shibu Baby John told flash.

Politics will reflect

Developments in state politics are going to reflect in by-polls. Issues including gold smuggling will become a topics of discussion during the campaign. Graft was involved even in the distribution of onam kit. Low quality, sub-standard food items were given to the poor to celebrate onam. This is the greatest example of the government’s indifferent attitude.

That victory was unexpected

LDF had an unexpected victory in Chavara last time. Vijayan Pillai had won from RSP’s seat. He was a former member of RSP. It was during his last days that he went to Congress and then to CPM. The left front had actually encashed the losing votes which happened due to this. RSP will rectify those wrongs this time. This election could not be considered as semi-finals but it could be called as a sample survey before the assembly polls.

Stubborn attitude of Jose

The division in Kerala Congress is not going to affect UDF. We wanted to take everybody along with us. But the problems occurred due to the stubborn attitude of Jose K Mani. His departure from UDF is unfortunate but RSP won’t take initiative for talks with him.

RSP’s feelings

The more CPM tries to destroy RSP, the more party will grow. That’s what was seen during the parliament elections. Therefore RSP is not afraid of CPM. RSP is a feeling among the households of Kollam and Chavara and we are sure that feeling will be transferred to votes.

Will win in strongholds

We haven’t started any official discussions yet on seat sharing for assembly polls. During the previous local body polls, we had not won seats according to our ability and influence. We were new to the front and there were adjustment issues but now there are no such issues, therefore, our confidence is high
