NEW DELHI: The Kerala Private Medical College Management Association (KPMCMA) has moved the Supreme Court against the centralised counselling process for medical undergraduate and postgraduate admissions. The association has also questioned the spot admission process executed in Kerala.

According to the KPMCMA, the centralised counselling is against the apex court's earlier verdicts in TMA Pai, Islamic Academy and Inamdar cases. While claiming that the self-governing rights of the managements are violated through the centralised counselling, the petition states the government quota seats are usually not allowed in colleges if not approved by the managements.

The Medical Council of India had issued a notification in 2017 directing centralised counselling for admission to medical UG, PG courses. Later, the Dar-Us-Salam Education Trust (DET) had challenged this and the apex court had sent a notice regarding this. Now, KPMCMA has filed the petition to be added as a party in the DET plea.
