v-mauralidharan

NEW DELHI: In the war of words between CPM and BJP, the leftist party has said on Monday that V Muraleedharan’s statement that the gold smuggling didn’t take place via diplomatic baggage should be probed. This shows that Muraleedharan has intervened to sabotage the case. CPM also demanded that he should be questioned. CPM has also said that he should resign from the cabinet minister’s post.

CPM made this move against the minister after the central finance ministry in a written reply to the Parliament has said that the gold smuggling was carried out via diplomatic baggage. Customs department informed the external affairs ministry on gold smuggling in the month of July. The baggage came in the address of consular general of UAE, after that the ministry gave nod to open the baggage. The finance ministry has also said that 30 kg of gold was seized from the baggage.

Customs department, NIA and ED have launched parallel probes in the case. Meanwhile, the centre hasn’t informed the details of the politically influential accused in the case despite giving a written plea.
