KOCHI: Man who urged public to defy covid 19 protocol was finally held by police. Nisar, a native of Kalamassery was finally held under the limits of Ernakulam central police station. Police has also registered a case against the WhatsApp group regulated by Nisar. Nisar through the group urged its members to abandon masks and not to follow social distancing.
The members of the WhatsApp group were also planning to organise a protest meeting near the high court on September 18th defying the covid-19 protocol. Enquiry against the WhatsApp group, which had 60 members, was started on the information received to Vijay Sakhre, nodal officer of state covid prevention programme.
The case was registered after identifying Muhammed Ashraf, the admin of the WhatsApp group, as the prime accused. Police is also collecting information about other members of the group. They are also enquiring whether such whatsapp groups have connections with terrorists organisations.
