ALAPPUZHA: CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran backs minister K T Jaleel. Five years ago, then Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has also gone through a similar phase. Even after the judicial probe, Oommen Chandy hasn’t resigned. “Thomas Chandy resigned following court’s statement on him,” Kanam explained.
CPI’s move comes after CPM rendering unconditional support to the tainted minister. CPM central committee member M V Govindan Master and LDF Convenor, A Vijayaraghavan has said that there is no such situation for the minister to resign. “He was summoned by the agency just for questioning, even if there is a case he need not resign,” Govindan Master said.
Meanwhile, LDF convenor A Vijayaraghavan has said that there is nothing unusual in Jaleel’s case. “This is just a procedure. Jaleel and Chief minister has explained over what has happened, there is nothing to be worried,” he said. The CPM leader also added that there is no tense situation and political opponents will try to make suspicion and the circumstances which led Kunjalikutty to resign is different from that of Jaleel’s.
