KADAKKAL: The body of Aneesh Thomas (36) of Vayala at Anchal in Kollam, killed in Pakistan shelling in Jammu Kashmir was brought to his hometown. The body taken to New Delhi after the post-mortem reached Thiruvananthapuram Airport Thursday morning.

After keeping the body for the people to pay homage in his house, it will be buried with official honours at the cemetery of Mannoor Marthasmooni Orthodox Syrian church. His colleagues’ senior officers Sreejith, native of Anchal and Johnson of Channapetta accompanied the body.

Aneesh Thomas was killed and two others, including an officer, were injured after Pakistani troops fired with small arms and shelled mortars along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district on Tuesday. His colleagues informed the news to his family at 8 pm. He entered service 16 years back. He was Lans Naik in Madras 17 Regiment. He got promotion in Naik rank and went to Kashmir six months back. He last reached home in December 2019.
