THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The NIA investigation regarding religious texts could spell trouble for KT Jaleel. It is learnt that the minister couldn't come up with a clear answer during the interrogation when he was asked about the person who demanded the 7750 texts.
Jaleel claims that the texts were handed over by the consulate to be distributed along with food kit as Ramzan relief. The minister distributed about 1000 food kits in his Thavanur constituency. But the religious texts were not given along with this. The religious texts were taken to an institute on Jaleel's direction. In that situation, Swapna and Sarith will be questioned to find who demanded the texts. If Swapna's group asked for it then the gold smuggling link can be confirmed.
It is suspected that the religious texts were used to smuggle gold in a large scale-a cargo of 4479 kilograms in 250 packets. NIA said the case will reaching a turning point after finding the person who ordered the religious text and who sent it through diplomatic channel.
Only 992 of 6758 religious texts were brought to Malappuram in C-Apt's vehicle. The whereabouts of 6758 texts need to be found.
