THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The COVID situation in the capital district appears to be worrisome as 926 persons test positive for the virus on Friday. Among these, 893 persons contracted the disease through contact. Meanwhile, 488 patients tested negative for the virus in the last 24 hours.

The district confirmed three deaths due to COVID-19 on Friday. The deceased have been identified as Thirumala native Prathapachandran (75), Balaramapuram native Rajan (53) and Poonthura native Mersily (72). With this, the number of COVID deaths recorded by the district has reached 163.

As many as 24,700 persons have tested positive for the virus in the district while 6865 persons are undergoing treatment at various hospitals. so far, 18.134 persons have recovered from the disease.
