THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has decided to construct a 'Mandapam' for Sree Narayana Gurudevan's bronze sculpture set up here. On Monday, the 'Maha Samadhi Day' at 9.30 am CM Pinarayi Vijayan will unveil the sculpture at Observatory Hills near Museum. A temporary glass roof will be constructed for the sculpture. Later, a Mandapam will be constructed for the sculpture, Cultural Department director TR Sadashivan Nair said.

The action was taken after Keralakaumudi published a column pertaining to the construction of a Mandapam near Gurudeva sculpture.

The state govt decided to install a Gurudevan's sculpture in Thiruvananthapuram as part of the famous 'I have no caste' proclamation. The eight feet tall bronze sculpture will be placed upon 10 ft tall granite seating. The sculpture was made at an expense of Rs 1.19 cr. The sculpture was made by Unni Kanayi in two years,
